Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
This week Tina is joined by Michael with the Real Talk School of Nursing podcast. Together they tell the story of the Heaven's Gate cult. This group was started by a nurse and her boyfriend in the 1970s. The group made headlines in the 1990s after they became convinced that an alien space ship was coming to Earth traveling behind the comet Hale-Bopp. The details of this story are so unbelievable it seems like science fiction. They close the show with the inspirational story of the first male military nurse who also happened to be Black.

Good Nurse Mabel Staupers Bad Psych Nurse
Thursday Sep 03, 2020
Thursday Sep 03, 2020
This week to celebrate the 100th episode of Good Nurse Bad Nurse Tina and Kiki will have a bonus discussion at the end of the episode about New Grads! But first, they discuss the absolutely horrifying story of a psych nurse who was suffering from mental illness himself and spent years tormenting his coworkers. Denis Czajkowski became so paranoid of his coworkers and his boss in particular that it eventually lead to him going back to the hospital where he was fired and holding two women hostage for two days. The good nurse story is about an amazing and courageous woman who didn't like the military's policy of having a limit of how many black nurses were allowed to serve..so she did something about it. They close the show with a special 30 minute discussion dedicated to new grads! Be sure and let us know what you think!

Friday Aug 28, 2020
This week Q the Nurse is back to join Tina in telling the story of Dr. Charles Friedgood. Friedgood was a doctor who spent his whole life manipulating people to get what he wanted. Just when you think he couldn't get any more despicable, he does something else until he finally does something so egregious even he couldn't get away with it. They close the show with the story of Dr. James McCune Smith, who was the first Black man to hold a medical degree in America.

Good Bedside Nurse Bad Nurse Assistant
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Kiki is back once again to co-host with Tina. Together they tell the incredibly disturbing story of Cathy Wood and Gwendolyn Graham. Cathy and Gwendolyn were two nurse techs who had some horrific games they liked to play together that involved the elderly patients they were supposed to be caring for at the the nursing home where they worked together. They close the show with a different kind of good nurse story. Our good nurse this week had the courage to stand up to a patient who requested to not have a black nurse caring for her. Teoka Williams was working as a bedside nurse when a patient complained about having a black nurse. When Ms. Williams complained about the incident she was reassigned to a different patient and was told the patient had the right to refuse care for whatever reason.

Mike with Simple Nursing is back once again to co-host! Tina and Mike tell the story of Valerie McDaniel, a veterinarian from Houston, Texas, who got tangled up with the wrong guy, Leon Jacob. Jacob had graduated from medical school but wasn't able to complete his residency. This story is as tragic as it is inexplicable and you will not believe how many twists and turns it takes before ending in devastation. They close the show with the inspiring story of Frederick Douglass Patterson. Dr. Patterson had multiple degrees including a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and had so many accomplishments in his life there isn't enough time to discuss them all!
